THANK YOU TO ALL OUR ELF PARENTS!!!
This year our elf trail was brilliant! You all did us proud!!! Children of all ages (2-92), just loved it and the genius play on words and themes were incredible!
From a giant 'Elfis' to wee euro savers. Size did not matter. We were advised to 'clear off', stick our head through Santa's head and dance away to music. We had cyclists, climbing and fishing elves, devilish elves, magical elf shrines, literary elves and it went on and on. The bench wreaths were absolutely lovely. Whether you chose to interact or observe it was all fun with lots of exercise. People warmed themselves up with hot beverages and the buns were absolutely 'gorge' -ous. Thank you to all our volunteers who froze over the two days but especially to all the wee darlins who smiled the whole way around the trail. That is why we do it!

Who on earth is ELF?
We are a group of residents from across the village hoping to get Church Fenton looking and feeling better for us and the children.
We have started to make things happen in our village.
What’s the big idea?
There are several. Those starred have already been started by us and/or partner groups.
• A village gala.
• Church Fenton in Bloom – with flower beds, hanging baskets,
veggie plots, tidy pavements and verges.
• An annual art, craft, flower and produce show. *
• Christmas light displays. *
• More welcoming entrances to the village. *
• All the local groups working together on fun events to
raise funds for all of this.
So far we have...
Created flower beds from Common Lane through to Lockton Court and had village tidy-up days over the Spring and Summer periods. We have filled many bin bags with weeds and roadside debris but could fill 100s more! Please join the fun! We had two magnificent ELF Trails just before Christmas 2010 & 11 which were loved by little children and us older folk. It was truly wonderful and lots joined in. Christmas lights were up for the first time in 2011, some designed by our school children. The village is looking much better, and working in partnership with the Parish Council, and having dedicated volunteers, a lot has been acheived. Fenton is very much a place to be proud to live in. Community spirit is on a high!
Church Fenton is a 'large' village, 17 miles from both Leeds and York. We are situated on the main Transpennine Rail link and we have our own airbase, R.A.F. Church Fenton. The village has a straight and then winding Main Street which runs for almost a mile between the train station and the airbase.
Fenton, as it's known to the locals, is only 15 minutes by train from Leeds and York and is, therefore, a popular commuter village. There are two churches, one being methodist and the other being anglican and a village hall. We also have Kirk Fenton Primary school and Jigsaws Nursery. The original village name being Kirk Fenton (Meaning Church on the Fens).
There are two fine pubs, The Fenton Flyer, close to R.A.F. Church Fenton and the other pub being the White Horse which is close to the Village Hall. Both serve food and are welcoming. We also have a very fine curry house called The Sunar Bangla restaurant situated at the train station.
